Former public house. Dated 1873. Cream stock brick with stone dressings;
slate roof. Italianate, freely handled. 3 storeys and dormered mansard. 2
windows wide, splayed corner and 2-window return. Ground floor has 2 windows
flanking doorway set in segmental arcading stilted above pilasters with
foliate caps; these also support ornamental spandrels, fascia and enriched
cornice; narrow entrance to corner splay similarly treated,as are ground floor
windows of return. The upper floors have recessed sashes in enriched stone
surrounds and heads. Continuous deep band course at 2nd floor level with
carved name panel inscribed "Walmer castle" on splayed corner. Bracketed
crowning cornice and blocking course with chimney stack set over corner
splay, its base inscribed with date.
