The Tanyard

Farmhouse, now house. Early C16 to right, circa 1840 to left. Red brick to left,
painted on 1st floor. Red brick on ground-floor to right, exposed timber-framing
with plaster infilling and some curved braces on 1st floor to right. Plain tiled
roof, hipped at both ends, in two roof pitches, higher to left. Centre stack, left
slope stack. Catslide extension at right-hand end. 2 storeys; 4 windows,
extremely irregular, mixture of glazing bar sashes (to left), side-hung and sliding
casements (to right), with some surviving interior sliding shutters. Board door
2nd bay from left. Interior: Remains of the storeyed end of a hall-house, possibly
the service end. Curious lean-to roof added in C16 to this end, visible inside
drawing-room.
