Smithy, stable and cartshed. 1884. By M. O. Tarbotton for the
Nottingham Corporation Water Department. Brick with hipped slate
roofs. Ashlar and blue brick dressings, billeted and dentillated
eaves. Iron ridge, hips and finials. Pierced valance. Single
storey, 9 bays. East side has to left, 4 moulded round headed
doors with hood moulds. To right, 5 openings with square
concrete piers. To right again, 3 openings infilled with
weatherboard, containing a garage door. To right again, 2
openings. South end has a glazing bar casement. Rear has
altered fenestration with 3 round headed iron casements. Off-
centre late C19 addition with casement and door. Roof has on
each side, 5 louvred dormers. Smithy contains forge and bellows
in working order and in use. This building is a detached
ancillary building of Papplewick Pumping Station. This is now a
working museum cared for by the Papplewick Pumping Station Trust.
