UPPER SLAUGHTER
SP 1523
9/180 Kyneton Hayes and
Keynstons Hay (previously
listed as pair of cottages
25.8.60 yds W of Manor House)
GV II
Cottage pair. Late C17 and mid C19. Rubble with part Cotswold stone roof
and part concrete tiles; 2 brick and one ashlar chimneys; C20 roof lights.
2 storeys, mullioned windows. Plain doors. North east cottage (Kynetonhayes)
2 windows, 2 and 3 light with drips over to ground floor and cornice over
to 1st floor, stonework indicates that originally the upper windows were in
Cotswold gables; eaves presumably raised early-mid C19. South West cottage
(Keynstons Hay) has 4 windows without drips, and quoins to right. Deeds said
to go back to 1580s but the cottage may well be as late as the C18.
