House and attached barn. C17. Irregular rubble walls with ashlar quoins and
dressings; Cotswold stone roof; 2 chimneys ashlar with moulded capping and another
repaired in C20. House in 2 parts. East part has a chimney gable to road with a
small window 1st floor left with drip, below is a small segment-headed light; the
east gable return is 2½ storeys and has a range of 2 and 3-light mullion windows
with drips and doorway to left under step-chamfered timber lintel, plain door. The
left hand, west, part is 1½ storeys, 2 Cotswold gables to road with 3 and 4-light
mullion windows. To rear of this part a 3-light ovolo mullion window. 4 bay barn
extends at slightly lower height to left; gabled dormer to left of centre, large
double doors to right of centre. Important to the village grouping, especially as
its position on the perimeter of the motte may indicate much earlier occupation of
the site.
