GV II

Pedestrian and carriage gates. c.1828. Cast iron with open work square
section piers composed of tasselled halberd-finialed rails and cross bars
surmounted by scroll-supported large lanterns of modified Windsor pattern;
the gates with spear head rails and dog rails. The gates run between
st James's Palace and Marlborough House closing the access to Marlborough
Road from Pall Mall and are of the same design as those closing Stable Yard
Road as part of the St. James's Palace precinct.
