Boundary Cottages and Elton Cottage

II

Late C15 to early C16 timber-framed open hall remodelled in the C17, C18 and Mid C19. The external appearance is of the later period. One storey and attics colour washed brick with tiled roof. Originally the building was a four bay open hall house of cruck framed construction. There is some exposed framing on the east elevation. A later C17 post and truss framed bay was added to the south. Windows are now modern casements. Two dormers and one gable with curved bargeboards and finials. Gabled porch with bargeboards and finial. The interior has a first floor inserted in the C17 with step chamfered beams and there is a massive axial brick stack with baffle entry. Four cruck trusses survive internally with original purlins and windbraces.
