Gossum headstone approximately 12m south west of the tower of the Church of St Mary the Virgin

Headstone. Dated 1721 in memory of Richard Gossum. Upright sandstone slab standing approximately 1.5m high. Its shaped head is carved with a good (if somewhat rustic) representation of the Good Samaritan story with scrolls around following the shape of the head. Inscription below in Roman serif upper and lower case lettering records the death of Richard Gossum in 1721. The grave is complete with a pair of body stones and footstones, the latter inscribed BG and AG.
