House, now two. Mid-late C16 with C17 improvements, subdivided in C19. Plastered
cob on rubble footings; volcanic stone stacks topped with C19 brick; thatched
roof. Original 3-room-and-through-passage house facing south; No. 128 occupying
former hall, through passage service room to right (east) and No. 129 occupying
inner room at left (west) end. End stack to service room and lateral stack
projecting to front of hall. 2 storeys. 4-window front of late C19 and C20
casements, some with glazing bars. The 3 first floor half-dormers to No. 128 have
thatched gables over. Passage door (No. 128) to right of stack has late C16-early
Cl7 oak ovolo-moulded door frame. Secondary door (to No. 129) at left end and
inner room window blocked with early C20 brickwork. Hall stack has probably
original plastered chimney shaft topped with brick. Interior has mostly C19
features hiding earlier features. Rear passage doorframe and doorframe in cob
passage-hall crosswall have chamfered surrounds but stops have worn off. At upper
end of hall bead beam survives from C16 oak plank-and-muntin screen with internal
jetty over. Hall with C17 chamfered and scroll-stopped crossbeam. 1 side-pegged
jointed cruck roof truss exposed in No. 129.
