C15 building, originally a small hall house, with alterations. Timber framed.
Main garden front of 2 storeys, 4 windows. High pitched hipped tiled roof with
compound off-centre stack. Sane visible timber framing, with filling of rubble
stone and red brick dressings, below tile hung 1st floor. Modern leaded casements
and central door. Two storey south extension; and lean-to extensions behind.
Much exposed timber inside including a heavy, slightly cambered tie beam with huge
arch braces and a rebated lower angle, with crisp hollow chamfer above, both continued
down the swell-head posts. Roof not accessible but peg holes in ties indicate
Crown post construction. Downstairs double inglenook fireplaces and remains of
bread oven.
