Description

LOWER STREET
1.
5393
(North Side)
Verandah Cottage
SU 9032 NW 3/121 3.12.53.
II
2.
C16 or earlier timber framed house of 2 storeys, now 3 windows only. However the
high-pitched, half-hipped tiled roof has gablets above the hips, suggesting that
they have been shortened and that the house was once an open hall. An off-centre
ridge stack (rebuilt) supports this theory. Tile hung 1st floor, rubble ground
floor with red brick dressings. Small C19 and modern leaded casement windows.
