Reputed to have been the town lock-up, now a house. C17 or
C18. Render on probable studwork to projecting upper floor on
colonnade; render on probable rubble to ground-floor wall set
back to rear of pavement; dry slate roof with central roof
dormer with lead roof and slate-hung cheeks and 12-pane
2-light casement; tall brick stack on the right. Deep plan
including rear wing.
2 storeys plus attic; 1-window range. Very wide C20 tripartite
window with central 18-pane hornless sash and 8-pane casements
to sidelights above a crudely wrought hardwood bressumer on a
colonnade with 3 round granite columns with entasis.
Ground-floor front set back has C20 fixed light with glazing
bars on the left and doorway on the right with C20 ledged
door.
INTERIOR: not inspected but may contain features which would
help to give a more precise dating.
Covered pavement greatly enhances the interest of this
building.
