Monument to benefactor; commemorates Alderman John Hargreaves Scott who bequeathed land for making this park. Dated 1895 on south side; slightly vandalised 1991. Sandstone ashlar with some polished pink granite and a marble bust (missing at time of survey 1991). Jacobean/Renaissance style. Square plan. In the form of a large and elaborate tester, with square panelled clasping pilasters to the plinth, a round-headed arch in each side with panelled pilasters and banded head, and 3 polished granite colonnettes at each corner carrying a very elaborate entablature with vase finials to the corners and a central octagon from which rises an octagonal pillar with a moulded cap surmounted by a flaming urn finial with S-shaped supporters. Under this canopy the centre of the plinth has a square panelled pedestal for the bust of Alderman Scott. The north and south sides of the plinth have lettered plaques recording the benefaction and the date of opening of the park.
