Has been an inn at least since 1689 (datestone inserted in new wall).
Present external appearance now mainly Victorian, 2 storeys, with gables,
quoins, and modern windows. South front has 5 gabled half-dormers. Bar
and dining room have thick walls (probably original with splayed square
windows (6-paned sashes), and old ceiling beams in interior.
