House, now two houses. 1856. By TC Hine of Nottingham. Altered mid C20. White brick, partly painted, with stucco dressings and hipped slate roofs with two coped brick stacks. First floor sill band, moulded cornice, coped brick parapet with ball finials at the corners. Windows are mainly original margin light sashes. Three storeys plus attics; 2 x 2 windows. Both houses are entered from Castle Grove at first floor level.
South-west front, to garden, has two projecting bays, each with a sash on each floor. Ground floor window to right replaced by a French window. Each bay is topped by a coped shaped gable with a round-arched window.
Right return has to left a canted bay window, three storeys, three sashes, topped by a turret with three round-arched windows and a spire roof with three tiny wooden gabled dormers. To right, on the second floor, a single sash. Rear has pairs of round-arched windows, the lower right pair altered to a doorway. To right, round-arched doorway under a moulded round gable with ball finial.
This building is part of TC Hine's earliest phase of the development of the Castle Park for the Duke of Newcastle.
