House, now 3 houses. c1850, with late C20 alterations. Bakery,
formerly Midland Confectionery Works, c1879 for William Pike.
Brick with ashlar dressings and slate roofs.
EXTERIOR: house, to right, 2 storeys; 2 window range. Plinth,
wooden eaves board, 2 gable stacks, rendered right gable. On
each floor, 2 late C20 top hung glazing bar casements. Renewed
central panelled wooden doorcase with cornice, 4-panel door
and overlight. To left, slightly lower entrance bay with a
similar casement above and an elliptical arched cart entrance
with keystone below.
At the rear, 2 storey and single storey outbuildings and
additions, mid C19 and late C20, linked to the bakery.
Bakery, 3 storeys, has overhanging canopy to front gable and
factory style round ridge stack. Front gable has a central
loft door flanked by single 2-light casements on a sillband.
Above, a similar loft door flanked by small single casements.
Above the door, a wooden hoist beam. On the ground floor,
three 2-light transomed casements with overlights. All these
openings have slight segmental heads. Right return has on the
second floor 3 small boarded openings. Left return has on the
first floor a loft door flanked to right by a segment-headed
2-light casement and to left by 2 boarded windows. Below, a
door with overlight flanked to left by 2 smaller blocked
openings and to right by a larger window.
