SW of Rettendon Place

GV II

Granary. Circa early C19. Weatherboarded timber frame on brick
plinth. Corrugated sheet steel roof with gabled ends. Plan: Very
large 6-bay granary with midstreys in bays 2 and 5 with outshut
between on front; centre 4 bays floored, south end bay partly
floored and north end bay open to roof. Exterior: 2 storeys.
Large 2-storey gabled midstreys to left and right of centre, the
left open on ground floor and with loft door and windows above;
the right midstrey has plank double doors on ground and first
floors with window above. Brick outshut between midstrey with 2
windows and plank double doors to left. Rear west has plank
ground floor and loft doors. Interior: Ground floor partitioned.
North bay without floor. South bay partly floored with open well
in SE corner. Some bin partitions on first floor. Unchamfered
floor beams. Jowled posts with down braces to floor beams, king-
post and strut trusses and staggered tenoned purlins. The frame
is largely complete including original common rafters.
