Early C16 open hall house altered in C17 and incorporating an early C17 barn at
south end. Two storeys timber-framed with white colour washed brick and stucco
infill. Some diagonal braces. Gabled tiled roof. At the northern end there is
a C16 gabled cross wing, the ground floor refronted in brick and the upper floor
tile hung. Four casement windows. The open hall was rebuilt in the C17 and a
chimney inserted. The cross wing has early C16 floor joists and a restored open
hearth fireplace. Kingpost roof in gabled cross wing. Jowls to upright posts.
Barn is of 3 bays with Queen Struts and clasped purling roof with straight wind
braces. Jowled posts. In the C19 the barn used to house the local fire engine.
