Description

READING ERLEIGH ROAD SU 7272 (north side) 9/601 Church hall at Church of St Luke GV II Church hall. Dated 1910. Red brick in Flemish bond with white brick bands and stone dressings. Plain tile roof. One storey, 5 bays. Buttresses with offsets. Paired lancets with leaded glazing and chamfered surrounds, those to bays 2 and 4 taller and breaking eaves below gables. Modillion eaves. Brick kneelers and stone coping to gables. Left return: oculus to gable. Right return: 3 stepped lancets above foundation. On right, separate gabled bay breaks forward and has entrance: double board door with decorative iron hinges and 3-light 4-centred- arched overlight in chamfered surround; cusped narrow light above. Interior: main hall has quatrefoil-pierced and moulded eaves board, arch-braced roof trusses with chamfered cross braces and crown posts, and cusped wind braces.
