QUIDENHAM
Gate Pier, Gates, Flanking Walls and Railings about 500 metres west of Old Buckenham Hall

II

Gate-piers, gates, flanking walls and railings at entrance to drive of Old
Buckenham Hall, Old Buckenham parish. Circa 1911, possibly by Detmar Blow who
rebuilt Old Buckenham Hall in 1911.
Large red brick gate-piers square on plan, with rebated corners to the shafts, on moulded stone bases and with moulded stone caps and ball finials. Wrought iron double gates to carriageway with decorative scrollwork. Low brick walls on either side with railings above and similar but smaller flanking piers.
Old Buckenham Hall was owned by HH Prince Frederick Duleep Singh. It was bought in 1911 by L.Robinson who rebuilt the house to the designs of Detmar Blow. 1952 it was largely destroyed by fire.
Source: Information provided by Mr Lester, the owner of Old Buckenham Hall.
