Barn and adjoining linhay. Barn is C16, reroofed and partly rebuilt in mid C19:
Linhay is entirely mid C19 cob on rubble footings and some C19 rubble rebuilding to
barn; barn has slate roof, the linhay and round house have corrugated iron roofs.
Barn and linhay facing south into farmyard and backing onto road. Barn to left and
linhay to right. Barn has cob round house to rear, and large opposing double doors
to threshing floor. To left of door is short projecting midstrey wall and is rubble
walled further left. No midstrey wall to right, only a C20 breezeblock buttress. 4
pigeon holes over front door. Roof hipped to left. Rear has both short projecting
midstrey walls and loading hatch to left. To right is round horse engine house with
semi-conical roof. It houses a massive beam but no machinery. Linhay is of 6 bays
(Alcock's Type T1) with the posts resting on C20 concrete and some original stone
pads. It now has weatherboarded front. Roof is slightly lower than adjoining barn.
Linhay is slightly terraced into the hillside and cob rear wall includes 2 doorways
and a loading hatch and is broken by a series of cob buttresses. Included for group
value.
