Watermill. Circa early-mid C19; machinery probably refitted later in C19. Brick, roughcast
rendered. Plain tile roof with gable ends. PLAN: Long rectangular plan that appears to be
in three builds; the main build at the centre with a short l-bay later C19 extension over the
wheelpit on the right [east] end and a lower 2-storey, 2-bay range on the left [west] end.
EXTERIOR: Main range 3 storeys 4:1 bays; various casement windows with glazing bars
in segmental-headed openings; doorway on left with first floor loading door above. Bay on
right has glazed door and 3-light casement above. 2-storey, 2-bay range on left has sashes and
glazed door on right and loading door in left [west] end gable. INTERIOR: Machinery
virtually complete comprising: Entirely iron overshot waterwheel, 10 ft diameter [smallest
practicable for an overshot wheel for a corn mill] by 9 ft. wide [unusually wide to
compensate]. Pentrough missing. Gears are of standard layout, pit wheel, wallower, great spur
wheel, stone nuts. Well cast great spur wheel with wooden teeth. 2 pairs of millstones; 2
more pairs missing; disengaging and regulating machinery below survives. Sack hoist partly
survives.
