of Ivy House Farmhouse

Barn. Circa C17, altered in C18 and C19. Timber-framed, the walls
largely rebuilt in brick in C18. Plain tile roof with gabled ends.
3-bay barn, with central threshing bay its north cart entrance blocked
in circa late C19. North and south sides have ventilation holes, formed
by omission of some headers. Wall posts exposed either side of central
bay which is blocked in brick on north side. C20 wooden lean-to shelter
obscures south elevation. Timber framing of roof structure exposed in
gable ends. Interior: 3-bay roof with queen-struts and diminished
principals crossed at apex for diagonal ridgepiece. Trenched purlins
with thin replacement wind-braces. Curved braces under the tie-beams.
Common rafters intact.
