Description


THORNTON IN LONSDALE THORNTON LANE SD 67 SE - (west side) 9/18 Glebe House GV II Farmhouse. Mid C17 with C19 and C20 alterations. Limewashed rubble, stone dressings, slate roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Entrance right of centre has plain lintel and slate hood, c1980 door. Flanking ground floor windows have plain surrounds, 16 pane casements. Upper floor windows: former double chamfered mullioned, mullion now missing. 6 pane fixed light, and 2 windows with plain surrounds, sashes with glazing bars. Massive projecting left-hand gable end ridge stack, left of centre and right-hand ridge stack at former right-hand gable, now at junction with outbuilding which has a right-hand entrance and one window per floor. Interior not accessible. Included for group value.
