House 1899 by Sir Reginald Blomfield in Queen Anne style. Built of red brick in
stretcherbond with stone dressings. Hipped tiled roof with 4 brick chimney stacks.
2 storeys and attics, 7 windows. Deep wooden modillion eaves cornice, end quoins
and band below cornice extending into keystones of 3 central windows. 3 curved
dormers with triple leaded lights. 12-pane sashes in reveals. 3 central windows
have stone keystones. Plinth. Central doorcase with curved pediment on brackets.
Doorcase with elaborate keystone and eared architrave. Double 6 panelled doors with
top 4 panels glazed. Plinth. Attached to each side are sections of garden wall
about 10 ft high in Flemish bond with stone coping terminating in brick piers with
ball finials. Left side elevation has 3 triple sashes. Rear elevation has recessed
centre with 2 12-pane sashes with jalousies and central French windows leading on to
iron balcony supported on 4 piers. Late C2O dormer to roof. Wings have curved
dormers and triple sash windows with elaborate keystones. Interior has sitting room
with segmental fanlight, Tuscan columns balustered staircase and early C18 type
panelling. Large and elaborate fire place with eared architrave and brackets with
oval feature above, also with eared architrave, Some panelled doors.
