15/10014 Ice House about 100 metres
south west of Meriden Hall

Ice house. Circa late C18. Brick. Egg-shaped ice house with flat base. About 14 ft diameter.
Short entrance passage intact on north side to top of chamber. Built into the face of the quarry
from which stone was obtained to build Meriden Hall. The ice house is situated in the park of
Meriden Hall [qv], which was built in the early C18, reputedly in 1721-4 by Francis Smith of
Warwick.
