1/89 The Lysley Arms

II

Inn, later C18, painted rubble stone with stone slate roofs. Main
range with mansard roof and end stacks, 2 storeys and attic with 2
hipped dormers. Three window range, casement pairs above, 3-light
flush cyma moulded stone mullion windows below each side of
projecting C19 gabled stone porch. To left, a taller painted
ashlar mansard-roofed c1800 one window range with coped gables,
rear wall stack and first floor band carried around full height
canted bay with 8-12-8 pane sashes each floor. Blocked door to
right in raised moulded surround with hood on brackets. C20
extension beyond. To right, painted rubble stone range with end
gable and one-window range of 2-light bead-moulded stone mullion
windows. Flush quoins at north angles and north end stack.
Stone slated lean-to behind main range. An inn on the Bath road,
known as The Swan until early C20.
