House and attached railings. Early C19 red brick, of possibly earlier timber
framed construction. Hipped grey slate roof. Right and left red brick chimney
stacks. Projecting eaves. 2 storeys and basement. Of 3 bays the central bay
breaks forward, end pilasters. 3 window range of small paned vertically sliding
sashes, including basement, gauged brick arches. Raised doorway approached by
steps from right and left. Door of 3 moulded panels, reveal panels, capitals
and bases to fluted half columns, triglyphs and metopes to frieze, guttae to
flat canopy. Cast iron railings attached to roadside edge of steps continue
through to the ends of the property, the balusters join to form pointed arches
below 3 top rails which support scallops and roundels on quatrefoils, they are
tripartite with different tracery to step treads. The property and railings are
an important feature situated at an acute angle of High Street.
