GV II

House and attached outbuilding and walls. Mid C18, with
additions c1870. Red brick, with ashlar dressings and slate
roofs with 2 ridge and single gable stacks. Plinth, deep
eaves.
2 storeys; 6 window range. L-plan. Central square portico,
rendered, with hipped roof, covering a panelled door. On each
side, a square wooden bay window, 3-lights, with hipped roof.
Beyond, to right, 2 similar bay windows, 2-lights. To left, a
glazing bar sash. Above, 6 glazing bar sashes. Right return
has a French window, C20, and above, a round-arched window.
Left return has a 4-panel door and overlight, c1870, and a
gable with bargeboard. Rear wing has a pointed arched window
in the return angle. On the west side, a single cell
outbuilding with 2 doors and 2 pointed arched windows with
Gothic tracery, linked by enclosing walls to the main
building.
This building is said to have been built to house the estate
manager to Clifton Hall (qv).
