Lodge at south-west entrance to
Arboretum

Lodge to Arboretum. 1851. By Henry Moses Wood, Corporation
Surveyor. Red brick, with blue brick and ashlar dressings, and
patterned tile roof with tile cresting and truncated ridge
stack. Tudor Revival style. 2 storeys; 1 x 2 bays. T-plan.
Facing gable has diaper work and bargeboard with finial.
Canted ashlar bay window, 3 windows, with inscribed panels on
parapet, and central finial. Above, a 2-light window with
label mould. Right return has a stone doorcase and overlight
in the return angle. Left return has a canted ashlar bay
window, hipped.
Part of the original architectural scheme of the Arboretum,
laid out by Samuel Curtis of London, 1850-52.
