Weir on River Aire. Possibly medieval in origin, enlarged and rebuilt c1788. By John Sutcliffe of Halifax, engineer. For Thomas Lloyd. Repaired after bomb damage 1942. Massive gritstone slabs set on edge, concrete repairs. Approx 140m long. Built to direct the major flow of water through the mill at all times. There was a fulling mill at Armley by the mid C16, leased by Richard Booth from Henry Savile.
