Public house. Mid C19 with early C20 alterations. Painted
render and faience tiles, grey slate roof.
2 storeys, 2-bay gable facade to road, the left bay breaks
forward on ground and 1st floors; 2-bay right return.
Chamfered quoins. Central panelled door, glazed overlight;
flanking 3-light windows with turned wood glazing bars,
segmental heads below transoms, etched glass with coats of
arms and scrolls. Original wooden fascia with Jacobean-style
arcading and recessed panels; entablature with name, moulded
cornice.
First floor: 3- and 2-light window in moulded architraves,
moulded cornice at eaves level. Decorated gable with central
round-arched 2-light window (blocked), moulded keyed arch with
imposts which continue as pilaster bases rising to flattened
moulded gable coping; moulded plaques flank the gable window:
'KINGS/ ARMS'.
Right return: bar windows flank chimney breast,
segmental-arched windows in architraves above, blocked on
left. Right: small segmental-arched window low down on ground
floor, round-arched stair window above, plate-glass sashes.
Bracketed eaves, tall banded brick stack.
INTERIOR: small front entrance hall with mosaic floor, 2 front
rooms now one large bar, wood and glass screens, part original
as are doors and benching; corridor through to public bar.
Notable for the etched glass.
