PC Hardwick. For the Bank of England. Ringby sandstone ashlar,
slate roof, wrought-iron railings. Late Classical style. 3
storeys over basement and added storey in roof. 3 similar
facades with main entrance on South Parade, rear entrance on
The Headrow and right return to Park Row. Rusticated ground
floor with Greek key-pattern frieze and cornice; upper storeys
have rusticated quoins and pilasters, modillion cornice and
balustraded parapet with vase finials. Central porch with
paired fluted columns supporting entablature with triglyph
frieze and scrolled mask, deep eaves and blocking course.
4-pane sashes throughout, alternate triangular and segmental
pediments to first-floor windows. Right return: a central
3-part window to each floor: fluted columns in antis to ground
floor with scrolls and masks in frieze above.
