II
House, now doctor's house and surgery. Early C19 with late C19
alterations. Coursed squared gritstone and ashlar, slate
hipped roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays, added bay left. Central
shallow projecting porch with glazed door and overlight in
moulded surround with narrow brackets, deep cornice and
shallow pediment, flanking canted bay windows with moulded
cornice. Three 20-pane sashes to 1st floor in plain stone
surrounds, continuous sill band with moulded brackets. Eaves
band, tall end stacks with modillion cornice.
INTERIOR: the panelled double doors, central hall panelled,
with fine staircase and fireplace probably contemporary with
bay windows.
The only building on Shaw Lane when the 1850 Ordnance Survey
map was surveyed.
