Large house, now offices. 1860-70. Ashlar, slate roof. 2
storeys and attic over basement.
A symmetrical 3-window pedimented facade in Italianate style.
Corner pilasters. Stone steps up to central door with fanlight
in pilaster surround with console brackets and pediment with
name plaque. Flanking canted bay windows with stone mullions,
cornice and blocking course. First floor: central 4-pane sash
in a segmental-arched architrave with sill brackets and
consoles supporting a triangular pediment, outer windows are
paired round-arched lancets in similar architrave but with a
segmental pediment overall. Central attic window in moulded
pediment: a small Venetian window in an open pediment. Moulded
eaves band and cornice, end stacks.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
The Directory entry for 1870 indicates that this was occupied
by Miss Elizabeth Jowitt.
