GV II

House, now shop and office. Early C18 with early C19
alteration and mid C19 shopfront. Orange-red brick in
stretcher bond with timber cornice; pantile roof, hipped at
front, and brick stack.
EXTERIOR: 3-storey 1-window front. Shop has margin-glazed and
panelled door and 8-pane window beneath plain cornice.
Tripartite window with 4:12:4-pane sashes on first floor,
16-pane sash on second floor. 2-course raised brick sill band
on first floor, 5-course band to second floor. Moulded
modillion eaves cornice with fluted inverted bell rainwater
head. Rear: 3-storey 1-window gable wall with 16-pane sashes
on ground and first floors and 2x4-pane Yorkshire sash on
second floor, all with segmental brick arches.
INTERIOR: ground floor front room retains moulded timber
cornice over shop window and door. First floor: close string
staircase survives to second floor, with turned balusters,
square newels with attached half balusters and plain handrail.
2-panel plank door to rear room with pegged-on moulding. Front
room has cast-iron fireplace in shaped surround. Second floor
front room: 6-panel door; fireplace hidden by shelving with
plank cupboard door to right.
