House high above the road, now a retirement home. Mid C19.
MATERIALS: painted stucco, hipped slate roofs with various
moulded stacks.
STYLE: Italianate.
PLAN: complex L-plan with C20 block to the front.
EXTERIOR: 2 and 3 storeys; 7-window range to the east entrance
front, 6 windows to the south, road front which has a C20
lower block. Wide bracketed eaves, bracketed sills and imposts
to semicircular-arched one-, two- and 3-light windows
articulated by banded pilasters and quoins. To the right of
the east front is a 3-storey, 2-bay block with paired windows
to each floor, those to the lower floors of the inside right
are C20 alterations. A central 2-storey block has triple
windows to the first floor and paired windows to a canted bay
to the ground floor.
A further left-hand range is set well back with a
single-storey conservatory-porch in the angle, probably C20.
The rear north wall is blank, the west wall has various C19
and C20 windows.
INTERIOR: entrance hall has late C19 segmental arch with
panelled soffit supported on each side by 3 consoles; mid C19
open-well open-string staircase with fretted ends; late C19
stained-glass stair window; windows with splayed reveals and
panelled shutters (some fixed); decorative cornice to
ground-floor left room.
