Ironworks, now snooker club, being converted to shops. Mid C19. Yellow Gault brick with red brick dressings; double-gabled sheet-metal roofs. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys. Front has 2 low-pitched gables with red brick courses under eaves with course of angled bricks. An attic storey above an entablature and giant pilasters delineated by courses of red bricks. Each gable has a central circular window, outlined in bands of red brick and stone. The Fullbridge front has a broad central pilaster/pier, narrower piers on flanks and intermediate narrow piers. These frame recessed panels, which above the entablature are treated as a semicircular motif, with a pair of windows with margin glazing bars and a narrow dividing pilaster. The cornice of red bricks includes a course of angled bricks. At entablature level each recessed part has a stone band inscribed in Roman lettering: MALDON: IRONWORKS: COMPANY: LIMITED. The recessed panels each have, on each floor, 2 windows of 4 panes with ventilator over. Between storeys are panels of red herringbone brick with central stone boss. Moulded black brick plinth with angled brick course in each recessed bay, and diamond motif in entablature over piers. Above entablature, on the 4 corners of the building are recessed square colonnettes. The flanks are without pilaster piers but are subdivided by red-brick courses into attic and order. The SW flank has at attic level, 8 small-paned windows with segmental heads, one altered. 1st floor has 8 similar but deeper windows, one altered to form door. Ground floor has 4 such windows, 2 wide openings now variously infilled, a tall narrow door opening with entrance recessed and a widened opening. C20 iron fire escape down flank. The NE flank has 8 similar windows on attic floor, one now with louvres. 1st floor has 8 windows, 3 altered to doors to 2 iron C20 fire escapes. Ground floor has 8 windows, 3 of which now doors. The rear elevation has a circular window in each gable. INTERIOR: deep transverse beams supported on 3 rows of cast-iron columns. One now on ground floor now partly on stanchions. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: short length of cast-iron railing has square iron pier with ball finial and brick plinth with stone
