Semi-detached pair of houses. Mid C19. Painted stucco, slate
roofs with moulded stacks to gable ends, party walls and rear.
STYLE: Tudor Gothic.
PLAN: each house is L-plan with paired projecting central
wings and rear wings.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with attic; symmetrical 6-window range
with projecting central bays making 2:2:2 fenestration.
Gables with elaborate fretted bargeboards to returns,
projecting central wings and flanking 3-storey slightly
projecting bays.
Label moulds over one-light windows to attics and between
gabled bays, and over sash windows designed as cross windows
on upper floors; single-storey canted bays below front gables
with hipped roofs and pendant friezes, probably cast-iron (the
bay to No.6 to the left may be later as it is higher and
deeper with French windows).
No.6 has a 4-panel door and a C20 porch in the angle. No.4 has
a half-glazed lean-to porch in the angle with trefoil-headed
vertical panes.
The external stacks in the returns are offset at each floor
with an inserted semicircular-arched window to the attic and
paired chamfered shafts.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
