House, forming part of terraced row; with attached verandah.
c1826-30; altered. Painted stucco, slate roof with stuccoed
chimneys to left and right. Double-depth double-fronted plan
with back extension.
2 storeys and 3 windows, symmetrical; moulded gutter cornice.
Elegant 3-bay verandah with cast-iron standards formed of
slender paired columns with Gothick tracery and cusped
open-work arched brackets, and copper-clad roof. The ground
floor has a square-headed doorway with moulded architrave and
panelled half-glazed door, flanked by large canted bay windows
with C20 glazing; these carry up to C20 canted flat-roofed bay
windows at 1st floor, and there is a plain rectangular window
between these.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Adjoins No.15 to the right (qv) and No.17 to the left (qv).
All the listed buildings in Marine Crescent, together with
those in Adelaide Terrace, Bath Street, Beach Lawn and Marine
Terrace, form a group in the Waterloo Conservation Area of
Crosby.
