Gate lodge to Crosby Hall (qv). Early to mid C19. Sandstone
ashlar, graduated slate roof. Tudor style. Modified cruciform
plan with front porch, rear wing and small north wing.
One storey, 1:1 windows, a small asymmetrical building with
oversailing eaves. Offset left of centre is a large gabled
porch which has cusped bargeboarding, a Tudor-arched outer
doorway with hollow mouchette spandrels, hoodmould and a blank
shield above, matching arches in the left and right-hand sides
and a matching inner doorway with Tudor-style panelled and
half-glazed door; to the right, a cross-window in similar
style, and set back at the right-hand end a low wing with a
hipped roof and a 3-light mullioned window, both these windows
with diamond-paned glazing, Tudor-arched lights, hollow
spandrels and hoodmoulds. Small skylight in roof; 3-flue
chimney to rear of centre. The left gable wall has a canted
bay window in matching style.
