Barclays Bank and attached railings

GV II

House, now bank. Mid C19. Painted brick with slate roof.
EXTERIOR: facade symmetrical, 2 storeys above a basement, and
3 bays separated by giant pilasters. The windows are glazing
bar sashes, with sill bands which are interrupted by the
pilasters. The central doorway is reached by a flight of steps
and is flanked by round-headed windows. The Tuscan pilaster
doorcase has a triglyph frieze and mutuled cornice. Above the
6-panel door there is a fanlight. Modillion gutter cornice.
Chimneys with yellow brick caps in front of ridge to left and
right and to right of centre.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: iron railings to steps and area.
