House. Late C18, with later alterations and mid C19 shopfront.
For George Ewbank, chemist. Orange-grey mottled brick, in
Flemish bond at front, English garden wall bond at rear;
timber shopfront and moulded console cornice to eaves: slate
roof.
EXTERIOR: 3-storey 2-bay front. Shopfront of plain pilasters
and frieze between bulbous consoles, beneath flat cornice:
half-canted plate glass shop window to left of glazed shop
door with overlight. At right end of shopfront is wide passage
door of 4 incised panels beneath overlight. On first floor,
3-light canted bay with 1-pane sashes. On second floor, two
12-pane sashes with painted stone sills, slender glazing bars
and flat arches. Rainwater head with initials GE and date
1789.
