TR 14 NW ELMSTEAD -

1/108 Great Holt Farm

II

Farmhouse. C18 or earlier, with later alterations. Red and grey
brick in English bond to front elevation. Left gable end and rear
hung with banded plain and fishscale tiles on both floors. Right
gable end rendered. Left wing red and grey brick in English bond
to both floors on right side, red brick in Flemish bond with tuck
pointing to ground floor of front gable end and long left side, with
plain tile-hanging above. Plain tile roof. Main range, with wing
projecting forwards from left end of front elevation. Short rear
return wing to left. 2 storeys. Cellar to front left wing. Brick
plinth. Hipped roof to main range, left hip extended to abut rear
left wing. Roof of front left wing hipped to front, with lower eaves
and ridge than main range. Roof of rear left wing hipped to rear,
with higher eaves and lower ridge than main range. Multiflue brick
ridge stack towards left end of main range and rendered stack to right
gable end. Slightly-projecting brick stack to right side of front
left wing. Irregular fenestration of 2 casements; one three-light
towards centre and one two-light to right. Segmental heads to ground-
floor windows. No windows to front gable end or right side of front
wing. Blocked doorway under main-range stack. Door with four fielded
panels, two top lights and flat corniced and bracketed hood, up four
steps, to left gable end of main range. Single-storey red brick addition
with half-hipped plain tile roof, to rear to right of main range.
