House. C15 with C16 extensions and alterations, cross wing to east C17 and extended to north in C19. Timber framed on sandstone plinth with parts of frame exposed on north side with brick infilling. Sandstone block infilling in chimmney bay of north side, galletted sandstone blocks with brick angle quoins and dressings on west end. Cross wing clad in red/brown and blue brick. Plain tiled roofs with tile hung gable end, some in fishscale pattern, on the west end. Originally a three bay hall house with cross wing to east forming T shape plan, now with extension to north forming L shaped plan. Two storeys and attics on gabled wing, one storey and attic on older range, single storey extension. South side (facing garden): multiple,corbelled stack to right of centre at junction of two ranges. One attic casement in gable end to right, one three light casement on each floor below. Large hipped-roof dormer to centre and smaller dormer, placed lower down on roof, to left. One three light window on the ground floor. Part glazed door to centre, at junction with gable end. North side (rear): Two hipped-roof dormers at different levels to centre and right, two windows on the ground floor. Single storey range projecting to left with casement fenestration, some windows breaking through eaves, and door of the return side facing the farmyard. Interior: ground floor room in cross wing has chamfered joists and spine beam with lambs tongue stops. Ground floor room to centre has deep brick fireplace, partially filled in, with fine moulded lintel over with carved spandrel decoration andspit rack above. Chamfered spine beam of inserted floor is supported on scrolled corbel and low, round leaded wooden doorway leads to end room. First floor has exposed diagonal corner braces and old floorboards. Roof: coupled rafter roof with collars mortised in, all sooted. Remains of wattle and daub partition survive.
