House. Timber-framed structure of C17 (or earlier) with C18
(and later) brick cladding. Brick, partly rendered, with
C20 tile roof. 3-bay 2-storey T-shaped plan with lean-to
against rear and C20 garage to right. Each bay has a 3-
light leaded window on each floor. Door in bay 1. Bay 3
projects as a gabled crosswing. 3 chimney stacks.
Principal interest is the internal timber-framing. An
inglenook fireplace with bressumer beam and spere screen
backs onto a closed cruck truss between bays 1 and 2. The
head of the T (bay 3) is split into 3 rooms by 2 full-height
box-framed partitions with wattle and daub panels (C17).
The two roof trusses appear to have reused the blades of a
second cruck truss as tie-beams, and each accommodates a
doorway by means of an arched head cut into its underside.
