2/88 Hincks Mill Farmhouse

II

Farmhouse. Early C18, Coursed squared limestone, Roman tile roof. large
L-plan block, gabled outer ends, hipped to return corner. Entrance in internal
angle and west front set against stream (Shreen Water). Two storeys; to road,
the north front has 2 wide-spaced bays, to left 16 over 20-pane sash, and to
right paired 8-pane sashes over cross-window with paired casements. Large
central ridge stack. Return to stream, set on offset plinth of considerate
depth, 4 windows: at ground floor a paired 10-pane sash, single 10-pane, 25-pane
and a door opening; at first floor are 16-pane, 12-pane and 16-pane plus a
2-light C20 casement. Left end has a 25-pane sash at ground floor and an open-
ing to right. South facing gable has 1 over 2 large C20 casements, the upper
one cut down from original voussoirs; small brick stack. Internal east front
has two 20-pane over one 25-pane sash, and, in corner C20 glazed door with side
light and 5-pane transom light; south-facing front has three 20-pane over three
24-pane sashes and, off-centre right a panelled door in gabled porch. Interior
not inspected. The building remains mainly unaltered without and is very
representative of the larger farmhouse in the area.
