of Higher North Coombe Farmhouse

Linhay. C18. Stone rubble and cob partly rendered. Corrugated iron roof, formerly
thatched, hipped to left (west) and with brick chimney over gable end of wash house
conversion right. Long rectangular building of 9 bays. End bays of 1 room enclosed
by solid walling but otherwise open to south. 2-storeys with loft using part of
roof space. South wall left bay has unpierced stone walling to loft floor level.
Right bay has central doorway with wooden lintel over. 7 bay central section is
open and has 7 original posts.
Interior: complete timber structure survives to open part with cross beams morticed
and side pegged into posts. Original trusses jointed and pegged to posts to front
and bearing on solid unpierced walling to rear. Lapped and pegged collars.
