Block of flats. 1934 by R Toms and Partners for the Bell Property Company. Brick,
painted white and red dressings; green pantiles to roof; painted brick chimneys.
3 storeys with attic, 15 bays. Main doors each have a single glass pane in wood
surround with decorative glazing bars. Small-pane metal Crittal windows with tile
sills; similar French windows; flat-roofed attic dormers, the principal ones with
canted sides and, where paired, a decorative central metal panel. Three evenly-
spaced entrance and stair towers (one at centre) having curvilinear gables and
decorative brick panels linking door surround and windows above, the attic window
narrower and round arched. Full-height canted bay windows at ends and, with paired
windows, between towers. These bays linked to the towers by balconies which have
decorative openwork panels of semi-circular tiles. Roof has steeply pitched, hipped
sides and flat top. Rear: unaltered fenestration; metal fire-escapes with part-
glazed doors. Interior: not fully inspected, but some flats retain original
features. One of 5 similar blocks.
