Early-mid C19 pair, each w storeys and basement, 2 windows. Low pitched hipped
slate roof with eaves soffit. Stock brick with banded stucco ground floor and
basement. Gauged flat brick window arches ton 1st floor. Sash windows, lost
bars, with cast iron guards. 4-panel doors with pilasters, cornice and console
bracketed cornice over. Door of No 54 modernised. Group value.
Nos 40 to 54 (even) form a group with Nos 56 and 58 which are of local interest.
